24 Hours in Nashville

Here for a good time, not a long time.

The White Animals

If you went to school in Nashville in the 1980s, you definitely heard of The White Animals. The White Animals blended the sounds of 60s garage rock, 70s British punk, and reggae dub beats to create a funky new wave rock sound they carried throughout the southeast in college towns and metropolitan cities alike. Their unique mix of musical flavors appealed to the college fraternity brothers as much as it did the indie punk rockers creating an eclectic, widespread fan base. Although not the most successful or famous band to emerge from the 1980s splash of rock genius, videos for their songs “This Girl of Mine” and “Don’t Care” made it onto MTV. In 1987 The White Animals broke up leaving behind a legacy never to be forgotten, and a loyal fan base still hoping for more.
